Sue Rollins is a Connecticut-based painter and printmaker. Our rapidly changing climate and humanity’s impact on the natural world: the intersection of these themes appears in her work in different ways. Her recent work combines traditional landscape painting with abstract expressionist elements, addressing our environmental challenges with altered landscapes or windows into
the past and future, creating art that tells a story, and is both peaceful and chaotic. Adding layers of antique and vintage media sometimes changes the meaning of the piece and unexpected themes and stories emerge. When she uses a fragment from a deteriorating book, she often translates the words and learns something new and/or gains a new perspective - this process is always exciting and interesting.
She studied with abstract expressionist Hiram Williams and printmaker Ken Kerslake at the University of Florida, Gainesville.
